School ‘Threat’: On May 21, 2018 at 6:25 p.m., the Novato Police Department received information that several Sinaloa Middle School students overheard a 13-year-old male classmate make a statement about bringing a gun with him to “shoot up the school.” The information was received after classes had already been released for the day and the students involved had gone home. As part of the investigation, patrol officers contacted the students who overheard the threats and corroborated the information provided to school administrators. NPD Detectives later contacted the student at his residence. He and his family were cooperative with detectives and denied having any intentions to cause harm at the school. A search of his residence was conducted and a broken airsoft gun was located. No other guns or weapons were located. At the conclusion of the investigation, the student was issued a citation for Criminal Threats Made Against A School. The case will be forwarded to the Marin County District Attorney’s Office. The student will be referred to services. Soon after, a citizen reported a gas can theft on the field at Sinaloa Middle School. Officers responded and confirmed with school facility maintenance staff the gas can was left behind by workers the previous day. There is no connection to the original threats investigated. This case is an example of why it is important to report any suspicious or concerning behavior.

She Had A Headache: A woman on Wildomar Street called police about a dog barking non-stop. Asked where the barking was coming from, she said she had a headache and would not say.
Dog’s Ashes Taken: A car was broken into on Mountain View Avenue. The ashes of a cremated pet dog were taken.
While the Cat’s Away: Loud music – and rap music to boot – blared out of a house on Coronet Avenue. The owners were away on vacation. The au pair was warned and cited.
Oregon Driver: The driver of a grey Mini Cooper with Oregon plates parked in a handicapped spot on Corte Madera Avenue without a handicap sticker. A citizen with a handicap sticker challenged the Oregon driver and an argument ensued. The Oregon driver left the scene.
Grand Theft: A man with a shaved head, a Giants shirt and tribal tattoos stole a pair of diamond earrings worth $4,000 and a gold and diamond bracelet worth $40,000 from a store on Throckmorton. He was seen several times in the Depot after the theft, but escaped.
Damn Biker: A man walking on a path in the area of 591 Redwood Frontage was assaulted by a bike rider. The biker, described as 50-ish, wearing a grey and yellow windbreaker and an arse for a brain, came up behind the walker, yelled “I’m coming through” and hit the walker, breaking his glasses.
Baseball Bats: A younger driver parked in a place that some seniors thought should be reserved for older parkers on 700 Miller Avenue. His car was subsequently dented and damaged with a baseball bat. Part of this item was blacked out on the police log, so final determination is unknown. Roving bands of senior vigilantes with baseball bats?
Butt to Butt: A woman accidentally dropped her cigarette butt on the ground on East Blithedale Avenue. A man in a grey Toyota truck started berating her and threatening to punch her. Gone when police arrived.
Little Library Vandal: A “little library” that neighbors use in the Somerset Lane area to share books with each other, was vandalized for the second day in a row. It appears to be the same guy, who is described as “scruffy” with a hat and a backpack.
Like A Good Neighbor: A woman on Marion Avenue says she accidentally parked in front of a neighbor’s house, blocking the driveway. Those neighbors then entered her car, took her registration, and burst into her house uninvited and berated her. She thought that was excessive behavior and called the police to explore her options.
Doorstep Thefts: Police stepped patrol in the Lovell Avenue area due to multiple reports of mail theft in the area.
May 30 – June 1, 2018
Blocked In: A citizen who lives on West Court became blocked in by construction vehicles. She tried to get them to move and they refused, she told police. She wants all the vehicles ticketed as they have been parked for three hours in a 2-hour zone.
Suspicious Suspect: A “dirty looking” guy was walking through yards on Pine Street. He looked like a “street person” and “strung out” the resident said. Police responded. Gone on arrival.
Green Child: A “small green child’s backpack” was found and turned into police. (The backpack was green, not the child.)
Aye Chihuahua: It’s an ongoing problem, a citizen told police. A very aggressive Chihuahua that lives on Caledonia Street runs out from his house off leash and terrorizes walkers by.

Stolen Vehicle: Kerner Boulevard. The owner of a green Honda CRV reported it stolen. 8:35 a.m.
Physical Disturbance: Irwin Street. Two people were reportedly fighting outside the Shell Foodmart. There were no injuries and the situation was abated. 2:02 p.m.

Burglary: Larkspur Street. A subject broke the window to a vehicle and was found sleeping inside the vehicle at the County Conservation Corp. 7:23 a.m.
Stolen Vehicle: East Francisco Blvd. The owner of a brown Ford F250 pickup truck reported it stolen from the Circle K. The truck had a “For Sale” sign on it. 9:08 a.m.
Physical Disturbance: B Street. Two men were reportedly fighting at 7-11. They then apologized to each other and went their separate ways. 11:33 a.m.
Battery: Professional Center Parkway. Two roommates at the County Villa Healthcare Center got into a fight. 12:07 p.m.
