Puppies undergo guide dog training at fire station

A group of puppies with a purpose continued their guide dog training at a Golder Ranch Fire station, on Friday.

The puppies are taken to different places to become comfortable in several environments before they are turned over to help someone who is blind.

“The dog is trying to walk in a straight line, avoid pedestrians or any other thing. But, when it sees hazard, it stops,” said Ed Ehrman, a volunteer with Paws for the Cause.

On Friday, firefighters were helping the pups get comfortable around firetrucks.

The dogs are paired with someone who is visually impaired when they are about two-years-old.
