Police log July 23 to July 29

July 23

Caller in the 2600 block of 160th Street, Riverside, reports someone has driven on the property and possibly gone through the barn. Documentation and extra patrol.

July 24

Vehicle stop at Highway 22 and First Street, Kalona. Cited into court Robert James Townsend, 18, of North English for driving while license under suspension X1.

Vehicle stop at 1000 Fifth Street, Wellman. Jordan Kenneth Entsminger, 21, of Washington, cited into court for driving while license under suspension X6.

Both male and female party called 911 to advise they had been assaulted in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue, Wellman. Both parties did get physical but they agreed to separate for the day. If this continues and we have to return they will both be arrested.

Placed a 24-hour tow tag on the trailer at the corner of C Avenue and Fourth Street, Kalona.

Caller in Wellman reports a dog barking behind the funeral home. Unable to locate.

Vehicle stop in the 3000 block of Highway 22, Riverside. Arrested Gregory Eugene Davis, 49, of Kalona, for OWI third offense.

July 25

Caller in the 200 block of Fifth Street, Kalona, reports it appears someone tried to use a crowbar to the back security door. Unsure if anything is missing. Responded. No suspects. Documentation.

Caller reports a vehicle passed on the right while traffic was stopped to wait for a vehicle to turn, in the 2200 block of 540th Street, Kalona. Requesting a deputy counsel the driver. Responded and made contact with the driver who was counseled.

Caller in Wellman reports a dog barking again behind Powells. Responded and was unable to locate.

July 27

Caller reports there is a 2-year old child in the Kalona city shop who cannot tell them where he lives. DHS contact. Mother located and child was returned.

Officer reports being out with a subject who has a laceration to his back after his horse went down and the buggy ran over him. Kalona QRS responded.

Caller in the 700 block of 10th Avenue, Wellman, reports his wife assaulted him and has left on foot with their two children. County units responded. Spoke with subjects and they will both fill out statements and return them back to the deputy. Parties separated for the day.

Received reports of a bicyclist down on Ginkgo, south of Wellman at the top of the hill.

Caller in Kalona reports someone hit the bike rack on the back of his vehicle and damaged the bicycle.

Caller in the 100 block of B Avenue, Kalona, requests to speak to a deputy in reference a problem with her grandson and another family member. Spoke with the caller. Documentation.

Officer is with a vehicle in the Kent Feed parking lot, Riverside. Spoke with all parties. Hand gestures had been exchanged. Documentation.

Caller reports a 911 hang up. Officers responded to the 1400 block of J Place, Kalona. The subject no longer lives at that residence. Dispatch was able to make contact with them and there was no problem.

Multiple callers report a domestic dispute in the trailer court in Kalona. Officers responded. There are conflicting stores from both parties and witnesses. Neither party wanted to press charges.

Deputy reports being out with a subject in the Riverside Fire Department parking lot. Advised charges are pending upon speaking to the county attorney.

July 28

Caller reports she is out of town and her ex told her he is destroying her property at their apartment in the 400 block of B Avenue, Kalona. Responded. It appeared no one was at the apartment. No answer at the door and no vehicle. Spoke with the caller and she was advised of this.

Officer reports being out with a vehicle at the Kalona part. Subject is heading back to the campground. Everything is fine.

Caller in the 200 block of B Avenue, Kalona, reports she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend when she got home. She then refused to answer any other questions and hung up. She did call back to say he was leaving. Apartment door was open upon deputy arrival. Female was gone. Checked the area and attempted to speak with neighbors. Unable to locate.

Caller reports a dog is running loose again. This is an ongoing issue and the city of Wellman is aware and have warned them. Written warning for allowing dog at large issued to Neal Campbell.

Caller in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue, Wellman, has reported that her husband has broken a door and a shelf. He has been screaming at her and the kids. Verbal only. Parties separated for a while.

Caller in the 3100 block of 115th Street, Riverside, reports a hole in her front bay window. Believes it happened yesterday. Responded. Appears to be a rock chip from the outside.

Caller in the 1300 block of Tulip Avenue, Riverside, reports she was assaulted by her roommate.

Deputy reports he is enroute to the 200 block of Eighth Avenue, Wellman, to assist in reference a verbal dispute from earlier today. Deputy provided the residents with a ride to a different location for the evening.

Vehicle stop at Fifth Street and H Avenue, Kalona. Arrested Cole Foster Kempf, 34, of Kalona for OWI second offense.

July 29

Report a bicycle in the Kalona park. Transported to the Kalona First Responders building.

Gas drive off in Wellman for $82.

Caller in the 400 block of Seventh Avenue, Kalona, reports she is trying to leave the residence and her boyfriend is not allowing her to. Verbal only at this time.
