Mysterious disappearance of former New England Patriot’s dog has police asking for help

A former New England Patriots player’s dog went missing on Thursday under mysterious conditions, leading police to believe there’s more to the story.

The Wrentham Police Department sent out a message on Facebook on Friday asking for help in the search for Knox, an English bulldog owned by Jerod Mayo.

Police report that this case is unlike other lost dog calls. They state there is a “strange twist.” On Thursday at 8 p.m., police were called to Joe’s Rock in Wrentham for a missing dog case.

The trainer, who had been walking Knox and another dog, reported that Knox had vanished. He said that while he was attending to the other dog, Knox disappeared.

What concerns police is that English bulldogs are known for having short legs and bad cardio, making them poor runners. Police question how Knox could have taken off that quickly.

The other mysterious part came when police found his collar lying out in the open close to where Knox was last seen. Knox’s collar is no ordinary collar. It is an electronic collar, used specifically for training dogs. The collar did not have any marks of blood, fur or signs of being removed forcibly.

Police have been unable to find any witnesses, suspects or clues.

Mayo has made Instagram posts asking the fans for help with the investigation and search for Knox. “Our main concern is expediting his return so our family can have our dog back with us,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wrentham police.
