• Cat adoption – 5 to 7 p.m.; also Aug. 27, Bolingbrook PetSmart, Weber Road. Call Humane Haven Animal Shelter at 630-378-4208 for information or an appointment. All Humane Haven cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV tested and have their distemper and rabies shots.

•“Hikin‘ With Your Hound” registration deadline – Event is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Aug. 25, Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Kankakee Sands Preserve. The hike is 1 to 2 miles. All dogs must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet. Free. All ages. Register at reconnectwithnature.org or by calling 815-722-9470.

• “I Spy Wildlife” – 1 to 2 p.m., Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Monee Reservoir. Get outside and explore the trail in search of wildlife on a naturalist-led hike. Each week will feature a new search to see if you can spy turtles sunning, frogs croaking, herons wading and more. Free. All ages. Registration not required. • Bingo night – 6 to 9 p.m., Beggars Pizza, 650 W. Maple St., New Lenox. $25. Includes 10 games of bingo, pizza, salad and soda. Vendors. Cash bar as well as designated drink specials where NAWS receives a portion of the proceeds. Bring a wish list item and receive a special door prize ticket (maximum 15 tickets). • Cloud Star Tricky Trainer Sampling –
