Tip number 154 Enough already, enough All of this I love you guys first of all Let's clarify that, we all know that, right? But, all this backstory stuff, all this history stuff, all this supposed stuff, all this we need to know why stuff, all this theory stuff about the dog
No, stick to what the behaviors are My dog jumps, bingo My dog pulls on the leash, bingo My dog is afraid of things, bingo My dog is nervous in new environments, bingo
My dog runs away when I call it, bingo My dog growls, bingo, and what do you know, B-I-N-G-O is the name of the dog But, all this other connected stuff, it doesn't matter, guys Some trainers, behaviorists, they're like, give me, we need the full history of the dog and dah, dah, dah, dah, dah Was it the third or the fourth one out of the womb? It's like, it doesn't matter
Those are trainers that wanna sound smart Now, are there some things that might have something to do with it? Once we start working with a dog, I might ask some questions, but a lot of this other stuff, all of this other, my dog came from a hoarding case So what? My dog was in a crate for 20 hours a day And? My dog was left chained in the basement And? My dog was, okay, I got it, it's done
It's done It's over I'm not trying to be dick, I'm not mad at anybody, but focus way more on how to fix it, the solution, than the why My dog jumps, okay, why? It doesn't matter because he's the dog My dog is nervous around new things, why? 'Cause he's nervous around new things
My dog is afraid of six-foot-five men, why? 'Cause it is, but so many times everyone's gotta be like in these assumptions I'm saying this because what's happening is owners are struggling and they're keeping themselves stuck by these preconceived things This is not owner shaming, this is not owner blaming, this is not me being mad This is me hopefully connecting to people that will finally say, you know what, Jeff? You're right, it f-ing doesn't matter I don't like that behavior
How do I fix it? That's what I'm looking for people to do I'm looking to empower humans, but it so much doesn't matter why So much doesn't matter about the dog's past It doesn't matter I'm telling you, it doesn't
Number one, 90% of it's probably false or assumed Even if you were told by a rescue, a shelter, a previous owner, it could be their perception or their assumption Very rarely is it true You're either gonna hate this or you're gonna be like, got it, Jeff You're right
