NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) – It’s not your typical after-school program. But then again, this is New York City so what’s typical?
Frolic is an after-school program on the Upper East Side for children who just can’t get enough of being around pups. They’re learning how to train a service animal.Â
“When I’m older I want a lot of dogs and I want to know how to properly train them,” third-grader Ella Franciscovich said.
Right now, the kids are working with Tesla, a 3-month-old yellow Lab. Yes, Tesla, like the car but way cuter! Tesla was brought here from the nonprofit Guide Dog Foundation. The program costs about $850 for 10 weeks.
When Tesla turns 14 months old, she’ll go back to the Guide Dog Foundation to complete her training to become a guide dog or an assistance dog.
