LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) — A local dog training club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an open house to show the public its work and to show off its furry four legged members.
The Forest City dog Training Club celebrated its anniversary with an open house at its facility in Loves Park. The club’s more than 200 members and community members got together to celebrate with food and dog supply vendors. Members showed off the many talents and tricks the dogs can do that they learned at the club’s agility and obedience classes.
“We do a lot of fun things here with dogs. Yes, some of our members are competitive, I compete in the sport of god obedience and agility but not everybody does and some people come here strictly to just have a better dog they want to learn basic obedience they want to fun,” said president of the Forest City Dog Training Club Rick Lilly.
Forest City Dog Training Club says a lot has happened within the last 50 years and many of its dogs have gone on to compete at national competitions.
