Dog breaks longstanding dock diving distance record at K9 Splash Zone

BROOKVILLE, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – About 100 pups spent the morning Saturday jumping and spashing at the K9 Spash Zone in Brookville.

The special event held today was a qualifying event for the national dog dock diving event. Nationals are being held in Orlando in December. Susan Fife is the co-owner of K9 Spash Zone and said the event is bringing some of the most talented dogs around.

One of those talented dogs is Slingshot, a whippet who broke the distance world record on Friday and again today. Rachael Brinkman is Slingshot’s owner said he jumped 33 feet, 3 inches on Friday and then 34 feet today. The record he broke was previously held for 60 years. Brinkman said it hasn’t quite sunk in yet that her dog is a record holder, “He just keeps besting himself, I didn’t even know it was possible to jump that far. He’s amazing us.”
