Decatur man ran from police, faces drug charges

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – A Decatur man ran from police and was later caught with methamphetamine after allegedly stealing from his girlfriend.

Thomas Krigbaum, 41, of Decatur is expected to be charged Monday with a variety of felonies stemming from crimes committed in Champaign.

Krigbaum’s girlfriend initially called police after he sent her explicit photos of her she had not consented to. Later in the same day, Krigbaum took his girlfriend’s debit card and started making cash withdraws from the ATM.

When officers arrived to arrest Krigbaum, he started running, shoving an officer to the ground. Officers chased him, but he refused to stop. While making the arrest, Krigbaum’s dog attacked an officer, biting her arms and legs.

During the search of the Krigbaum, officers located a case containing 11.5 grams of meth and paraphernalia.

Krigbaum was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia, resisting arrest and theft.
