‘Alright, dog, see you later’: Cowboys rookie Michael Gallup breaks down how he scored first career TD

LANDOVER, Md. – Good things happen for the offense when the line blocks well, the receiver runs a good route and the quarterback throws a perfect pass.

An example of that happened for the Cowboys late in the second quarter Sunday at FedEx Field.

The line protected Dak Prescott, giving him enough time to wait for Michael Gallup to execute a double-move on Redskins rookie cornerback Greg Stroman.

Prescott delivered a precise 49-yard touchdown pass to Gallup, who was running 5 yards in front of the seventh-round pick out of Virginia Tech.

Gallup said they knew the Washington corners would be playing bail-technique, something the Cowboys receivers prepared for all of last week.

But he didn’t think he’d get quite that open.

“They had a corner in who hadn’t been playing too much and he was biting on everything,” Gallup said. “I just hit him with a stop-and-go. He bit a little bit harder than I thought he would, to be honest.

“I was like, ‘Alright, dog, see you later.'”

The touchdown allowed Dallas to head into the halftime locker room tied, 7-7.

Gallup finished with a career-high 81 receiving yards on three receptions.
