Here are this week’s Animal Protective League pets of the week. For more information on these and other animals available for adoption, visit or call (217) 544-7387.

Dog of the week

Virgil is a 4-year-old pit mix. He is a friendly, energetic guy. He could use some training to help focus hid energy, but he is very treat-motivated so that makes it easy to teach him. Come meet Virgil at the APL.

Cat of the week

Strudel is a 5-year-old cat. He is a sassy, playful guy. He likes to “talk” and tell you what he thinks about things. Come meet Strudel at APL.

Cat of the week

Kitty Mama is a 17-year-old female calico. She was released to us by her owner who could not keep her. She had been the “neighborhood cat” for 15 years and, though she was given food, she was not given the care that she needed, but she continued to have litter after litter of kittens. Kitty Mama is partially blind and it appears as though a chunk may have been bitten off one of her ears. This poor girl has had a hard life and deserves to spend her remaining years in a quiet loving home.

Rascal is a 1-year-old male Chihuahua. He was relinquished to us by his owner who had no time to provide him with the attention or training that he needed. He is a cute little guy, very active, but a bit timid until he gets to know you. He hasn’t been around a lot of people or other animals. Rascal really needs a very patient and understanding owner, who will provide him with the training and attention that he needs. He was adopted on 06.21.18 and returned on 07.08.18. He had spent so much of his young life in a kennel that he can be nippy when he doesn’t want to go back in.

Adoption event

Benld Adopt-A-Pet will hold a Pet Adoption at PetSmart, 1570 W US Highway 50, in O’Fallon, Sunday, September 9th, from 12-4 p.m.
