15-year-old Yakima boy raises $4000 for park dog training equipment

YAKIMA, WA – Pet owners in Yakima can expect to see some new dog training equipment at Randall Dog Park thanks to a Yakima teenager.

15-year-old Brayden Packard was working on his Eagle Scout project when he saw a need for dog training equipment at the park.

Although he initially wanted to build a sun shade for dogs at the park, the costs were just too high. With the help of his church, family, and friends, in just under a year he was able to raise $4,000 to build the four new pieces of equipment.

“Some don’t have a yard to train with dogs so I did that for them, because that park is there for them so that they can train their dogs,” Brayden explained.

He just finished building everything last month. He had $235 left over, which he donated to the city as seed money – in hopes they’ll fund-raise more money to build a sun shade for the dogs.
